KPK Assigns the Regent of Cianjur as an Education Fund Corruption Case Suspect

Jakarta, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appointed Cianjur Regent, Irvan Rivano Muchtar as a corruption suspect related to the Cianjur District Special Allocation Fund (DAK) Education in 2018. Irvan allegedly cut Education DAK by 14.5 percent from a total of IDR 46.8 billion.
Irvan was named a suspect along with the Head of the Cianjur District Education Office, Cecep Sobandi; Head of Middle School, Education Office of Cianjur Regency, Rosidin; and Irvan's brother-in-law, Tubagus Cepy Sethiady.
"The KPK increased the status of case handling to the investigation and determined four people as suspects," KPK Deputy Chairman Basaria Panjaitan told a press conference at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/12).
Basaria explained the construction of the case that ensnared Irvan. The NasDem Party politician along with a number of parties have cut payments for DAK Education in Cianjur Regency in 2018 by 14.5 percent of the total Rp.46.8 billion.
The Chairperson of the Cianjur Principal Working Council (MKKS), Rudiansyah and the Treasurer of the MKKS, Taufik Setiawan allegedly collected fees from DAK Pendidikan around 140 principals who had received the allocation of funds.
"It is suspected that the fee allocation for IRM (Irvan Rivano Muchtar) is seven percent of the DAK allocation," he said.
Basaria said that during the capture of the operation (OTT) against Irvan, the KPK prosecution team secured a total of Rp1.5 billion. According to Basaria, it was alleged that there had been a grant in accordance with the disbursement stage of the Cianjur Regency DAK Education 2018.
For his actions, the four suspects were snared Article 12 letter f or Article 12 letter e or Article 12 B of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Act Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Crime of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st KUHP juncto Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
But a suspect Cepy has not been caught in this OTT.
