The Corruption Eradication Commission Asks Cianjur Regent's Brother-in-law to Surrender Himself

Topik Nasional. Jakarta, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked Cianjur Regent's brother-in-law Irvan Rivano Muchtar, Tubagus Cepy Sethiady to surrender. Cepy has been named a corruption suspect in the Cianjur District Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in Education in 2018.

"Against TCS (Tubagus Cepy Sethiady) we appealed to come to the KPK and surrender as soon as possible," KPK Deputy Chairman Basaria Panjaitan told a news conference at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/12).

Basaria said Cepy was a person near Irvan. Cepy previously also helped Irvan's parents, Tjetjep Tjetjep Muchtar Soleh, Regent of Cianjur for two periods.

According to Basaria, Cepy was allegedly instrumental in becoming an intermediary in the provision of a sum of money collected from the principal to Irvan. The KPK team also found Rp1.5 billion of money allegedly for Irvan.


"Why can it be an intermediary? Because the headmaster believes he is a trusted regent. This has happened in the previous period," Basaria said.

In this case, the KPK determined Irvan and Cepy as corruption suspects in the Dian Pendidikan District of Cianjur 2018. In addition to the two of them, the anti-corruption agency also ensnared the Head of the Cianjur District Education Office, Cecep Sobandi and Head of Middle School in Cianjur District Education Office, Rosidin.

Irvan, who is also a NasDem Party politician along with a number of parties, is alleged to have cut the payment of DAK Education in Cianjur Regency in 2018 by 14.5 percent of the total IDR 46.8 billion.

The funding deduction was taken from DAK Education which had been allocated to around 140 schools in Cianjur Regency. The KPK only confiscated Rp1.5 billion. Irvan was previously thought to have received the funding cuts. (fra / age)
